Promoting Gas Safety in the Local Community

We recently teamed up with East Riding of Yorkshire Council and The Gas Company to carry out community awareness events in support of Gas Safety Week 2019.

Carl Rose, one of Ideal Boilers’ Key Account Managers, visited some of the community buildings in East Yorkshire along with East Riding of Yorkshire Council and The Gas Company, who help to deliver gas central heating to council owned properties in the area. As well as giving tips and advice on how residents can use gas appliances safely, visitors of all ages were entered into a prize draw for the chance to win £75 at each event.

Carl Rose said “as well as promoting our award-winning boilers, we also feel it’s important to inform and educate people about how they can be safe and protect themselves. By teaming up with local partners we can deliver these messages to local communities much more widely.”

East Riding of Yorkshire Council have shared their three top tips to be gas safe in the home:

  • Only employ a reputable Gas Safe registered engineer to work on your appliances, be sure to ask to see their Gas Safe ID card to check which appliances they’re qualified to work on. Do not try to work on a gas appliance yourself.
  • If you smell gas or think there might be a gas leak, call the free 24-hour national helpline number on 0800 111 999
  • Know the symptoms of CO poisoning: headaches, nausea, breathlessness, collapse, dizziness and loss of consciousness
